Aiming for their first victory in two weeks, the Calgary Flames will visit the city of Winnipeg for the first time in over 17 years as they battle the Jets on Monday night. The Flames are in the midst of a six-game slide (0-5-1), their longest losing streak since an 0-6-3 skid from Jan. 11-28, 2010. They havent won since Nov. 3 in Chicago and most recently went winless on a three-game homestand. The action can be seen live regionally on TSN Jets starting at 6:30pm ct/7:30pm et or heard live on TSN Radio 1290 at 7pm ct/8pm et. Calgary will hope to change its luck in Winnipeg, where it has not played since facing the original Jets on April 6, 1996. The Flames are one of two Canadian teams that have not played in Winnipeg since the Atlanta Thrashers relocated before the 2011-12 season. The Vancouver Canucks are the other. The Flames have won three straight over the Jets franchise and had lost six in a row on the road in this series before a victory in Atlanta on Feb. 3, 2011. Calgary finished its homestand with a 4-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, yielding all four goals in the third period. Rookie Reto Berra gave up three of those on 23 shots faced total. Sean Monahan and Dennis Wideman had the goals for the Flames. "We gave them two goals out of three. After 40 minutes, I felt that we gave them nothing. We were playing our style. The first goal and third goal, there is only one word for those two goals -- awful," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley. The rookie Monahan notched his eighth goal in the season and is looking to return to his early-season form. He notched six goals and 10 points in 12 games last month, but has just two goals and an assist in eight November contests. The Jets will try to rebound tonight after having a four-game win streak halted last night in Minnesota. They lost a 2-1 decision, giving up the winning goal with 3:12 left to play. Dustin Byfuglien had tied the game with his fourth goal of the season just 54 seconds into the third frame. Ondrej Pavelec made 22 saves in defeat. "It was a really tough game to lose because I thought our guys were very engaged in the game and really wanted to have a good outcome," said Winnipeg coach Claude Noel, whose club was without defenseman Zach Bogosian due to a strained groin. The Jets will open a three-game homestand tonight and have won their past four as the host. Pavelec has lost both of his previous career starts versus the Flames, posting a 4.12 goals against average, while backup Al Montoya, who has not started since Nov. 6, has never faced them. One inning later he swung away with great results. Aviles hit a three-run homer during a five-run seventh, Corey Kluber went 6 2-3 effective innings, and the Cleveland Indians stopped a seven-game road losing streak by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 on Friday night. "Mikey always plays the game," Indians manager Terry Francona said. Cleveland got solo homers from Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Brantley. Kluber (3-3) allowed two runs, nine hits and had nine strikeouts. Jake Odorizzi struck out a career-high 11 and gave up five hits in five shutout innings for the Rays, who have lost six straight at home. "Its just bittersweet that we couldnt pull it out," Odorizzi said. The Indians were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position against Odorizzi. "It was hard to get things going early in the game," Aviles said. "We werent able to get that big hit when we needed it. We were able to get it later in the game." Brantley homered off Joel Peralta (1-3) before Yan Gomes hit an RBI single and Aviles had his three-run shot off Brandon Gomes as the Indians went ahead 6-2 in the seventh. "The game score didnt really reflect the way the game was played for the most part," Francona said. "We put together one really good inning." For the fourth straight game, the Rays staged a serious ninth-inning threat. David DeJesus had an RBI double off John Axford with two outs that made it 6-3. Ben Zobrist then walked to load the bases, ending Axfords night. Cody Allen entered and got a fly ball from James Loney on a 3-2 pitch for his first save. "Its a crazy game," DeJesus said. "We get the winning run on every night and we havent been able to pull it out.ddddddddddddWe just got to keep going." Cabrera, coming off a four-hit game in Thursdays 9-4 victory over Minnesota, had a leadoff homer off Brad Boxberger in the sixth that pulled the Indians within 2-1. Cabrera finished with three hits and a walk. After Loney hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, DeJesus put the Rays up 2-0 on a fifth-inning RBI double. "Primarily, we have not hit," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "I mean, you look at the bullpen and we had one bad inning tonight, but weve scored 10 runs in the last four games." Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar left after the second inning with a bruised right thumb and is day to day. X-rays were negative.
